The Tribunal can confirm, vary or revoke the order.
If the Tribunal confirms the order, the order will remain in place for the period of time stated in the order unless-
• discharged prior to that time by the treating team or,
• a successful application is made by the patient to the Tribunal.
If the Tribunal varies the order, the Tribunal is agreeing that the order is necessary but that the length of time for which the order has effect should be changed.
If the Tribunal revokes the order the Tribunal has found that the order is not necessary. The patient can no longer be detained under the order, or be subject to its terms.
The Tribunal cannot make orders relating to the type of treatment to be received by the patient or the dosage or type of medication which the patient is to receive.
