What determinations can the Tribunal make?

The Tribunal can confirm, vary or revoke the order.

If the Tribunal confirms the order, the order will remain in place for the period of time stated in the order unless the order is discharged prior to that time by:

If the Tribunal varies the order, the Tribunal is agreeing that the order is necessary but that the length of time for which the order has effect should be changed.

If the Tribunal revokes the order the Tribunal is not satisfied that the appropriate criteria under section 24 or section 40 of the Act are met. The patient can no longer be detained under the order, or be subject to its terms.

The Tribunal cannot make orders relating to the type of treatment to be received by the patient or the dosage or type of medication which the patient is to receive.
