What does the Tribunal do?
The Mental Health Tribunal conducts hearings to review:
- orders to admit or detain a person as an involuntary patient in an approved hospital
- the making of a community treatment order
The Tribunal also monitors the use of restraint and seclusion in approved hospitals.
Orders for involuntary detention are reviewed by the Tribunal within 28 days of the making or renewal of the order, or upon the application of the patient.
